Sakakibara Kiyoto was born in 1941 and his kiln, located in the village of Inbe in Okayama prefecture is called Tenjin-gama. His work has been exhibited at Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibitions and famous venues like the Mitsukoshi department store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. From the box it appears as if this summer chawan was made in the 1980s and you will see that the red seal stamp on the lid has faded (a close up is shown to the left). The chawan itself is in good condition with no damage or restoration and Sakakibara sanís incised mark can be seen just outside the foot ring.
