Fujiwara Kyosuke is from Okayama and was born in 1939, the second son of Living
National Treasure, Kei Fujiwara. His elder brother, Yu Fujiwara, was also a
Bizen Living National Treasure and maybe because of this Kyosuke
has devoted his time making work other than in the family tradition. The
Kanji decoration on this chawan (meaning “the way”) was written by Kurozumi Muneharu, head of a
religious sect of Kurozumi-Kyo, and his sign is
also to be found on the wooden box under the central calligraphy. The summer
chawan has Kyosuke’s inscribed mark on the base.
