Hirano Kyodo was born in 1927 and studied under his grandfather, Yamato Shoroku X, and is therefore a descendant of the famous Yamato lineage of Hagi potters. Hirano sanís kiln is called Totozan and was established in 1971. Iím not absolutely sure when this chawan was made but I suspect that it is around 30 years old. The chawan is in good order and there is no indication that it has been used. Hirano sanís seal is near the cut of the foot ring and under the glaze and a close up is shown to the left. The wooden box is of good quality, fitted on all sides to the underside of the lid.
