Yamane Seigan was born in 1952 and is a member of the Hagi Association of Ceramic Artists. He is self taught and works out of the Kousaian Kiln, which he opened in 1987.

T
his vase uses the translucent white glaze most associated with Hagi ware. In this case the term “Kairagi” is used as the pattern achieved by getting the glaze to react in this way resembles the sharkskin used for the handles of Samurai swords.
