This Seto chawan has the characters for Harutake in the impressed seal, which translated appears to mean “Spring Bamboo”. I cannot be sure if this is the artistic name of the potter or not, hence the price of what is a very interesting chawan. The bowl is thrown on the wheel but has been cut and altered and the glaze has been brushed on the inside, intentionally leaving some of the surface unglazed. The seal is just outside the foot ring on the left of the final image. The teabowl appears to have been used but is in excellent condition with no damage or staining.
