Samukawa Yoshitaka was born in 1951 and is a potter who works in Osaka. This
type of teabowl is known as Kosobe ware, which was one of the tea wares used
in the past by the great tea master, Enshu Kobori.
This type of ware is rather untypical of the work stocked but I felt that the
brushwork of Samukawa –san was excellent and the
image had considerable charm. The bowl shows no real sign of use, although
there is a little crazing of the glaze and has Samukawa’s
seal within the foot ring.
The box contains an information sheet in Japanese and the calligraphy
on the box is to be found down one side.
