Takahashi Rakusai IV was born in Shigaraki in 1925 into one of the families that have kept the Shigaraki pottery tradition alive, especially from the1940s onwards. He succeeded his father to the family title in 1976 and it subsequently passed to his son in 2010.

This set was wood-fired in the family anagama, Rakusaigama, and has the potter’s incised mark on the base of the tokkuri. It appears to be around 35 years old but has no signs of use and has no damage or restoration like all other items on this website. It comes in the box above, together with cleaning cloths and a leaflet in Japanese.
