Takimoto Kokyu was born in Kinosaki-gun, Hyogo, Japan in 1947. His Fu-rai kiln is a huge hole in the ground like those used in Iga during the Momoyama period (you can see a small section of the stacking racks inside his kiln in the background to the picture of Takimoto on the left). Besides using an old style kiln, he also loves to research old glaze recipes, which this teabowl illustrates.

Takimoto’s incised personal mark can be seen in the image above on the right side of the foot ring and above the white dripping glaze.
