Uno Toru was born
in Kyoto in 1935 and he studied under leading potters, Mitsuo Kano and Yaichi Kusube. He established
his own kiln in 1961 and has exhibited at the Nitten
exhibitions many times and eventually became a judge of the Nitten. In 1965, he exhibited at the Berlin Arts Festival
during three years spent in Europe. In 1978, he became a member of the International
Academy of Ceramics (IAC) in Geneva. This summer chawan does not appear to have been
used and had no damage. It has Uno sanís impressed seal in the centre of the foot ring and I
believe dates from the 1970s.
